Interesting places
- The village of BRUNIQUEL,
Only 2 kms from the gite, is the splendid medieval village of Bruniquel, classed among the most beautiful villages of France. The atmosphere, ambiance and beauty of this magical place are unforgettable.
Your way round the labyrinth of little steep streets to get to the castles is bordered with magnificient stone dwellings with beautiful stonework and ancient architecture...
And, perched more than 90 metres above the meandering Aveyron, the “young château” and the “old château” give the whole fortified village its feeling of legend and magic.
- Within a 15 minutes drive from Bruniquel, there are many places to discover : pre-historic sites, shelters and dolmens, abbeys and medieval castles, fortified villages, and museums... : at Montricoux, Penne, Saint-Antonin Noble-Val, Puycelci, Castelnau-de-Montmirail, Cordes-sur-Ciel...
- Winelovers will be delighted by the numerous vineyards nearby : winetasting and buying (vins de Cahors, Fronton, Gaillac and Coteaux du Quercy).
- For the foodlovers: visit producers of foie gras, confits, magrets and other local and traditional specialities. Lots of typical markets give you a good flavour of the area.
- Many festivals are organised each year in the Tarn-et-Garonne: Offenbach festival in the courtyard of the Bruniquel château, at the end of July, the Montauban Jazz Festival Festival in May, and, during the summer, many plays, concerts, open air cinema, etc.
We have a folder with local tourist information for you to look at (programmes, restaurants..).
